Earlier this year, the cutest little guy was born to Robbie & Mavis. A little brother to Evangeline and Silas, Ezekiel came into this world and upped their count to five. What better way for this family to tell their nearest and dearest the details than with this hand lettered card?

Rachel & Jason's big day is fast approaching! I had so much fun creating this invitation suite for them – colour blocked, with an autumn feel on a textured stock, polished off with brown kraft envelopes.
Congrats you two!

My blog posts have been lacking as of late, however I'm finally catching up and excited to share some exciting work from the last few months.
Do you shop at Save On Foods? Chances are you have if you live in BC or Alberta. The (just about 100 year old) BC owned company is stepping up their already great service and offering something new. Keep your eyes peeled for one of these snazzy Mercedes Sprinters in your neighbourhood. Yes, you can order groceries online and have them delivered to your door, or you can pick them up (all packed and ready to go) from the store closest to you. It's pretty awesome.
Working with the (really awesome) Creative team at the Overwaitea Food Group, we developed a pretty eye-catching look for the promotional material for this new service. Going with a fun, fresh, food pun theme, I was privileged to develop a series of illustrations that outline what this new service has to offer, in a fun way. Its a bit intimidating to have my hand lettering blown up larger than life, but at the same time, so great. I get chills every time I see one of these beauties cruising down the street.
What do you think? Will you ever consider having your groceries delivered?
To find out if the new (and slowly expanding) grocery delivery service is available in your area, visit saveonfoods.com/shop.
Thanks to Nicole & Emily for these great photos.
Babies babies babies!
Seems like its the season for pregnant ladies and new babes. I had so much fun illustrating and designing this baby shower invitation for Jodi! She's due soon with a little girl, and her nearest and dearest are gathering for a beautiful baby shower with an elephant theme and touches of pink chevron decor.
An early congratulations to Jodi on her soon-to-be bundle of joy!
Also, these photos – they're gorgeous. Huge thanks to the always talented Sarah Nickerson!
Kitchen dwellers take note!
We originally designed these cards to contribute to prize packs at the Indie I Do wedding show, but they are too cute not to share with everyone else! Printed on a rustic cream pulp paper, we hand-illustrated these beauties to mimic retro bakeware. Boasting three colourful sets: blue, red and mustard these (standard) sized recipe cards are a perfect bridal shower or housewarming gift. We have sets for purchase – please inquire by emailing email@example.com

I couldn't let this fun little project fall through the cracks without sharing. With a family cat named "Mac" and a couple's signature home made red wine in mind, I had the pleasure of illustrating a custom wine label full of character, hand lettering, and a cat in glasses. It turned out lovely. How about a custom illustrated label for your wedding, party, or personal wine stash?
Thanks to Sarah Nickerson for the awesome photos!
Its coming. That day that you need to do something special for the one your love, admire, or perhaps tell for the first time that you're pretty into them. February 14, Valentines Day! Cards are always a good idea, especially if you write something sweet. Though we don't have an online shop (yet), we'd still like to make Valentines available for this year. Purchase a hand-drawn valentine card printed on 100% recycled brown kraft card stock paired with a bright button & string envelope. We'll send it right to your door. You're other half will be smitten!
Valentine cards are $3.50 each including a button & string envelope. Orders may be made via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Choice of two designs: "My heart beets for you" and "You're on my to-do list."
We take cash, credit card, email money transfers or cheques. Shipping, and gst not included.
Thanks to Sarah of The Nickersons for the lovely photos featured below! Be sure to keep up with her gorgeous work on Facebook and Instagram.
I love hot beverages. Coffee and tea stains can always be found on my desk and though coffee is a staple, I do really enjoy a good cup of chai. Real chai. The kind of chai that comes from places like Remedy Cafe in Edmonton – so good. However, I've yet to find a cafe in the Lower Mainland that offers a chai that doesn't consist of a nasty powder, syrup or simple tea bag. Vancouverites – if you know of a good chai bar, please let me know!
So, I decided to make my own concentrate. You'll likely need to hit up a Fruiticana first (as not too many people keep green cardamon pods stocked in their cupboard). I've been experimenting with a few batches, and change it almost every time. Below is a guide, but be sure to play with it a few times until you find the ratios you like. It should keep in the fridge for a week or so, though it likely won't last that long. Enjoy!
I like the idea of starting fresh. I usually set goals for the new year, even though I rarely follow through. Its fun to dream about where a new year will take you. I've been freelancing for just about a year now, and its been awesome to see the unplanned direction that my work has taken. I'm setting new goals for this year (just because its fun), and some of those include more illustration, more stationery, and mastering that calligraphy pen.
Cheers to fresh starts. Here's a desktop wallpaper to salute the occasion!
We got to work with some pretty amazing people in 2013. One of those includes Christie Esau, co-founder of thisvillage – an organization that works with one village at a time to alleviate poverty. You can read more about them here, and please do!
This past late November, thisvillage ran a campaign to raise money to build wells for the small village of Bandanpally in Andhra Pradesh, India. The wells would finally give these people access to clean water. I can't imagine living without clean water, can you?
We were privileged to create a campaign graphic for the Start Some Good campaign, which was printed on buttons and distributed to the funders. We also prepared two "thank-you" typography pieces for cards that will go out to thank the funders of the campaign.
The people of Bandanpally now will have two new wells to provide them with clean water. thisvillage, you are awesome :)
